Barbara Retzer

Barbara Retzer grew up in a Navy family as the youngest of three children, where she developed a love for the great outdoors and an active lifestyle through camping, sports, and dance. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Auburn University and a Master’s degree in forensic science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Barbara embarked on a rewarding career as a forensic scientist, first in Atlanta and then in Savannah, where she continued her work while raising a family with her husband.

While she excelled in the scientific world, Barbara always nurtured a secret passion for writing. Alongside her close friend Patty, she ventured into the literary world by co-authoring their first young adult novel, drawing inspiration from the haunting history and charm of Savannah.

Now retired, Barbara resides in Florida with her husband, their teacup Yorkie, Molly, and their tabby cat, Cleo, where she continues to pursue her love of writing.
