Thomas J. Murphy

Thomas J. Murphy was born in Savannah and attended parochial schools there. He graduated from Armstrong State College in Savannah and later Mount Saint Mary’s College and Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
He has been a Catholic priest with the Diocese of Savannah for 38 years, mainly serving in the small towns of South Georgia. Wherever he has gone, he has kept Savannah and Tybee Island in his heart.
By serving outside of Savannah, “Fr. Tom” has discovered the faith filled and charming people of the rural areas and small towns of Georgia. He is presently a parish priest in Claxton, Georgia, and its Missions of Sandhill, Glennville, and Pembroke.
